Story

During the economic reform period of the 80’s, three undergraduates bind together by a common ambition – to live the American dream. They are Cheng Dongqing (Huang Xiaoming), a hillbilly who refuses to accept his destiny of being a farmer; Meng Xiaojun (Deng Chao), a self-confident, cynical intellectual; and Wang Yang (Tong Dawei), an idealistic romantic poet. Xiaojun is the first to obtain an US Visa for studying abroad. Yang follows but decides to remain in China for his beloved. Poor Dongqing is rejected by the US Embassy repeatedly. Baffled, he reluctantly accepts the job as an English instructor in the university but eventually gets fired for teaching tutorial classes in private. Across the Pacific, Xiaojun fails to find a decent job and is driven to work as a busboy in a diner. Dongqing decides to turn his tutorial effort into a fulltime business and summons Yang to help him along. Xiaojun, having returned from America, immediately joins force with his buddies to establish New Vision Institute. With their unique charisma, they turn New Vision into an instant success and create a media sensation overnight. However, the sudden fame and fortune are gradually tearing their friendship apart. The media labels Dongqing the “Godfather of Foreign Study”. Xiaojun is not comfortable with Dongqing taking all the credits for something they’ve created together and Yang suffers between their conflicts. The company is on the brink of collapse, as is their trust to each other. Whether New Vision and the friendship can survive the test of time, we’re about to see.

People always discuss which animal men should resemble more in order to be more perfect, and so in order to live up to these expectations, we cultivate ourselves to be as reliable as a horse, as loyal as a dog, as mysterious as a cat, as intelligent as a monkey, as honest as an elephant…… This way, we’ve successfully cultivated ourselves into idiots…. #flights of fancy on the hospital bed#

The new 60-part TV Series The Patriot Yue Fei <精忠岳飛> starring Huang Xiaoming, who is also the producer and investor for th TV Series is scheduled to begin airing on July 4th.

Yue Fei is a a famous Song Dynasty general. It is the first mainland China TV drama to focus on his life experience. The series is produced by Stanley Tong (唐季禮).

Next to Huang Xiaoming (黃曉明), Gallen Lo (羅嘉良) and Allen Ting (丁子峻) - both from Hong Kong - and Wu Xiubo (吳秀波) and Shao Bing (邵兵) - both from Mainland China star in the series. Also included are the actresses Ruby Lin (林心如), Cecilia Liu (劉詩詩), Viann Zhang (張馨予), and Cheng Pei Pei (鄭佩佩).

For Huang Xiaoming this TV series is very special to him as - even though he participated in Wuxia TV dramas before, this one is different as “Yue Fei is a hero who really existed in history,” he said. “He’s not like the warriors I portrayed in the past, who all had a legendary quality and were exaggerated and dramatized. The Patriot Yue Fei is a factual biography of a hero, and it conveys Yue Fei’s bravery and skill, as well as his loyalty and dedication to his country. It will give everyone that type of steadfast and unyielding spirit of a hero.”
