Huang Xiaoming in his upcoming movie AMERICAN DREAMS IN CHINA (中国合伙人). Although originally reported to be released on April 16th, the movie’s release date will be pushed back one month, to May 18th instead.
Check out a cute video of Xiaoming, Deng Chao, and Tong Dawei discussing their struggles with speaking English here. Deng Chao shared that when he was in university, he was placed in the lowest-level English class.
Xiaoming admits that he was worried people would use his English in this movie to mock him again, but he was still up to the challenge. In one scene, he had so many English lines that they would have filled four sheets of paper. However, director Peter Chan said he thought that, out of the three, Xiaoming’s English was the best.
“English actually isn’t scary,” Xiaoming said. “What’s scary is if you’re not willing to face it.”

Huang Xiaoming and Fan Bingbing attended a press conference for their latest movie ‘White Haired Witch’ on April 2nd, 2013 in Beijing, China.
After filming for over 5 months, the movie White Haired Witch <白发魔女传之明月天国> has now completed shooting. It is a 3D adventure with Chinese actress Fan Bingbing (范冰冰) as lead-role and Huang Xiaoming (黄晓明) and Vincent Zhao (赵文卓). The apparent budget for this movie comes to about 100 million RMB. The movie is based on the popular wuxia novel The Bride With White Hair <白发魔女传> and features many special effects.
A press conference was held on 2nd April 2013 to promote the movie. With both Fan Bingbing and Huang Xiaoming present, both talked about their experience of working together highly praising each other. Also present was Bona Film Group’s president, Yu Dong (于冬), producer Huang Jianxin <黄建新>, and director Jacob Cheung (张之亮) .
Huang Xiaoming's Long-term injury
It was during the filming of this movie that Huang Xiaoming suffered a foot injury. In November 2012 he had a 3-meter fall after a wire accident and suffered a fracture in two toes and his left foot. He was first bound to a wheelchair for weeks and then had to walk on clutches for several more months. A final operation only happened early April 2013.
Bingbing and the rest of the staff were heartbroken when they saw the injury and they were all moved and concerned that Xiaoming started to continue filming so soon after. Especially during a scene where he was suspended in a mid-air scene, Huang Xiaoming could see the concern of the entire cast and crew. Xiaoming said, “When I saw everyone’s face from up there, including director Jacob Cheung, I could see their concerns and anxieties. I was really touched then, and I will never forget that.”
I remember a book once said, on this earth there is nothing more than these three things: your own affairs, other people’s affairs, God’s affairs. When you see clearly which affairs is which person’s problem, then things are easily solved. My principle is to take good care of my own affairs.
